Biomedical Sciences is a two year master program in English at Radboud University.

Biomedical Sciences program will give you the opportunity to construct your own programme based on personal academic and professional interests. Choosing this program, you will have the possibility of specialising in any aspect of biomedical sciences from molecule, to man, to population.

The program has 8 specializations: Clinical human movement sciences, Drug Safety and Toxicology, Epidemiology, Health Technology Assessment, Immunology and host defence, Medical Neuroscience, Molecular Medicine, Free specialisation

  • Clinical Human Movement Sciences -The will teach students all the aspects of the movement sciences, from neural control, to disorders and orthopaedic biomechanics, all with a clinical perspective, to prepare student for an internship and future career in the clinical movement sciences.
  • Drug Safety and Toxicology- Within the specialisation, students will learn to study the effect of toxic substances and adverse effects of drugs from molecule to man, to improve patient safety. Students in this specialisation can prepare for a European Toxicology registration, when also performing an internship in the field of toxicology and pursuing with a PhD or obtaining relevant working experience in a company or governmental organization.
  • Epidemiology-  Within the specialisation, students will learn how to perform population-based research, with respect to data collection, analysis and modelling and get some hands on experience during practicals. Furthermore, students can apply for the national Epidemiology certificate, when they perform an internship in the field of epidemiology.
  • Health Technology Assessment -The HTA specialisation teaches students to perform qualitative research and create decision models for health care innovations. Via workshops by experts in the field, students will get real life examples of measuring health outcomes.
  • Immunology and Host Defence - In this specialisation, students will learn the ins and outs of the immune system and its interactions with pathogens or cancer cells. In addition, students will learn about the development of disease therapies for immunological diseases.
  • Medical Neuroscience -In the Medical neuroscience specialisation, students will learn to conduct research from basic to clinical and system-level neuroscience to provide better preventive, diagnostic and treatment options for brain-based disorders.
  • Molecular Medicine Students - In the specialisation of Molecular medicine will learn to acquire fundamental knowledge on the molecular aspects of biomedical sciences and translate this into diagnostic, therapeutic and personalized treatment strategies.

Admission requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Biomedical Sciences
  • Scientific research performance for at least 3 months
  • Experience with problem-based learning at academic level
  • Letter of motivation

  • Two reference letters from lecturers
  • English certificate:
  • IELTS certificate with a minimum of 6 points; TOEFL Internet version at least 80 or TOEFL 213 computer version; Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)
