Forensics, Criminology and Law is a one-year master program in English at Maastricht University.
If you want to work as a criminal law jurist, whether as a lawyer, judge, public prosecutor or policy official, it is increasingly important to know about and understand forensic disciplines. This master programme focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to crime and the administration of criminal justice. You will examine criminality and the gathering of evidence from different disciplinary perspectives. You will also gain an understanding of why forensic disciplines are so relevant in legal investigation and argumentation. This multidisciplinary approach makes the programme also interesting for non-jurists wishing to work in forensics.
During the programme you will try to answer questions such as: What are the causes of criminal behaviour? How can we test the reliability of a witness statement? How do judges come to their decisions?
To broaden your understanding of forensics and research methods, you will work with three Maastricht University faculties:
Economics and Business Administration
Health, Medicine and Life Sciences
Psychology and Neuroscience

Duration: 1 year
Admission requirements:
•a copy of your passport
•a letter of motivation
bachelor's or master's degree in law; or a bachelor's degree in a field other than law (an entrance exam is required for these students and also they will be interviewed on their academic skills and their motivation.)
•a certified copy of your diploma (* diploma should be also send by post)
•a list of grades
•a letter of reference
•IELTS-6.5/TOEFL-90/Cambridge test result-CAE or CPE
•a passport photo that we need for your UM id card
