Leisure and Tourism Studies


Leisure and Tourism Studies is an academic master program in English at Breda University with the cooperation of Tilburg University. It is the first and the only master program in its field in the Netherlands.
The focus in the program is on the Leisure sectors such as tourism, sports, culture, events and media which are increasingly interlinked and require an integrated and multidisciplinary approach.Courses of thismaster's program are build on knowledge and expertise from various fields such as sociology,psychology, economics, management and marketing. The program is built by the phases. The aim of the first phase is to provide context in the form of master classes. In thesecond phase students will work on providing their own content to the field in the form of their master's thesis.
However the program uniqueness lies in the recognition by the World Leisure Organization and the recognition of the Leisure Academy  at Breda as the only World Leisure Center of Excellence in Europe and the third one in the world. Also, students who follow this master program are focusend on the interaction between content, context and process of meaningful experiencebringing Imagineering, Storytelling and Events together.

Rankings: the Leisure Academy at Breda also has a 45 years' experience in the education and that is one of the reasons why the academy is also certified by the UN World Tourism Organization with the certificate TedQual, which guarantees top education in the field of leisure and tourism.
